Wanting To Want You To Want Me

When food has lost its taste and colors their allure
It can be a lot for a simple man to endure
My eyes are opaque with sadness
As this situation gets combed over
Their ducts have run dry not for the first time
Until I'm confronted again with the urge to cry
Unstoppable, the tears will come in waves
Penetrating my anger and fear
Washing and wearing it all away
For a time

You left my heart an echo chamber
An empty cave that still longs to be filled by you
To feel safe again is most welcomed
But it simply won't be, no not for me
This will be the strangest of all flights
As I will not know where I'll be
On this or any other future night
But I can say this with utmost certainty
I'll be wanting to want you to want me
For quite some time
