Projects currently on the burners and some thoughts.
Who would have thought the begining of 2022 would be so busy? Time flies when you're having fun, true, but it also flies when you are pedal to the metal at work as well. I say this not as a complaint because I have embraced and grown to cherish the feeling of being busy and connected again.
As Spring has finally decided to arrive in the Midwest I have been taking time to approach the season as the season of renewal by shoring up on old projects as well as starting to plan for some future personal and professional projects. So what does all this mean? Well, for one, this website has seen some serious dust settle upon it, and that has to change. Indeed, one of the projects that I'll be involved with this year is breathing new life into this site as well as streamline content creation for it. Some new opportunities have presented themselves professionally that also happen to fall into the category of personal improvement in a synergistic manner. This is exciting because not only will new knowledge and modalities be shared but can be applied to my own life as well as the lives of readers. After all, what good is knowledge without application to the greater audience and population?
Without letting the cats out of their bags too soon, I will share one specific example. In recet years, I have been preoccupied with adaptive exercise. Being a fan of exercise, and specifically weight lifting, for my own personal health journey I have also discovered how my passion in this area has been applied to my work with my clients who have both physical and intellectual disabilities. During March of this year I attended a traumatic brain injury conference hosted by the Brain Injury Alliance in my current home state. Through keynote speakers, other professionals and networking with individuals with TBIs, a light bulb went off very brightly! One of the many challenges faced by those suffering from and families supporting those suffering from TBIs is lifestyle management and support. This deals with not only health maintenance specifically but overall quality of life in general. Despite exercise being so important to health and overall quality of life, it can be a serious hurdle for those living with TBIs. Families need to be armed with knowledge and modalities to help support their loved ones in their journeys. Participating in the conference helped me realize that I think about issues closely related to traumatic brain injury A LOT. So much so that it has also made me realize that I should take some time to formulate my personal thoughts, knowledge learned, as well as how to capture these concepts using different media to share what I learned in order to help others.
In the coming weeks and months, readers should see more variety of content arrive here and with more frequency. I have decided to take a deep dive in learning to integrate media (audio, video, long form wirting). I am also learning and applying workflows to help in the content creation for this site. What have I gotten myself into? Hopefully, some really cool stuff. Thanks for reading! :-)
